In September, medical students begin searching for residency training programs. In today's economy, especially with college loans entering repayment, medical students have fewer dollars available to visit multiple residency programs. Kaiser Permanente, a leader in graduate medical education and technology, is responding to this need by hosting both an in-person and virtual Residency Program Open House.
It turns out the love hormone oxytocin is two-faced. Oxytocin has long been known as the warm, fuzzy hormone that promotes feelings of love, social bonding and well-being. It's even being tested as an anti-anxiety drug. But new Northwestern Medicine- research shows oxytocin also can cause emotional pain, an entirely new, darker identity for the hormone.
Sarah Palin has returned to the battle over health care reform with a familiar refrain, slamming what she and others dubbed 'death panels' over the summer. Following passage of the health care overhaul in the House on Saturday night, Palin took to her Facebook page to register her well-known opposition to the Democratic plan.
