Aradigm Corporation today announced it received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its inhaled liposomal ciprofloxacin Investigational New Drug (IND) application. The first trial planned under this IND is a Phase 1/2a, multicenter study designed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability of once-daily administration of 150 mg (3 mL) of Ciprofloxacin for Inhalation (CFI, ARD-3100) in pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) who have a history of chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection.
Qosina is pleased to announce the addition of five new Control Stroke Syringes. These syringes help ensure volume regulation during fluid delivery, and are used for precise injection or withdrawal. All syringes are equipped with a dimple inside the barrel opposite the graduation, which acts as a plunger stop.
The nation's emergency physicians are issuing a strong warning to parents about the dangers of prescription drug abuse, which are now the second most abused drugs, after marijuana. Nearly three-quarters of a million people (741,425) needed emergency care in 2006 because of prescription drug abuse.
By combining genomic testing and next generation sequencing technology, a new partnership led by RCSI researchers aims to advance predictive tests for multiple myeloma, the second most common blood cancer in Ireland.
