An experimental cancer therapy for prostate cancer may be able to treat men without surgery and offer fewer side effects according to the results of a UK study published in the British Journal of Cancer.
Emergency departments of hospitals generate significant amounts of environmentally harmful waste which could be reduced through basic changes to disposal policies and practices, while producing lower operating costs, researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) have found.
A new study may alleviate concerns regarding increased cancer risk for patients undergoing spinal fusion surgery with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP). The study appears in November 15 issue of Spine, published by Wolters Kluwer.
The immune system exercises constant vigilance to protect the body from external threats-including what we eat and drink. A careful balancing act plays out as digested food travels through the intestine. Immune cells must remain alert to protect against harmful pathogens like Salmonella, but their activity also needs to be tempered since an overreaction can lead to too much inflammation and permanent tissue damage.
To support healthcare and scientific research groups with high quality cytological cell samples, the National Clinical Cytology Biobank at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (Sweden) has invested in 2D coded sample storage tubes and sample handling equipment from Micronic to provide traceable, high integrity storage of its valuable gynaecological cell samples.
