Italian researchers have found a link between vitamin D and the risk of developing a melanoma and they say that individuals with certain variants in a vitamin D-related gene, called BsmI, may be at an increased risk of developing melanoma.
The Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research & Evaluation has been awarded more than $3 million from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to continue the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Study for an additional five years to 2015.
U-M researchers are calling for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to encourage a more seamless exchange of information between electronic health records and immunization registries.
During the current Dengue epidemic in the tropical north of Queensland, health authorities found more than 50,000 potential mosquito breeding sites in Cairns alone.
