"These techniques differ from conventional medical imaging in that the information they show is function not form, which means that they are capable of showing the malfunctioning of an organ before the malfunction turns into an anatomical change", Juan Jos- Vaquero explained.
Dry eye is one of the most common disorders encountered in ophthalmological practice. Its symptoms cause considerable discomfort and substantially reduce the patient's quality of life. As it is a complex and multifactorial condition, research investigating dry eye is a matter of great interest all over the world.
ETEX Corporation, an advanced biomaterials company, announced today a distribution agreement with OrthoPediatrics Corp., of Warsaw, Indiana. OrthoPediatrics will market and sell ETEX's nanocrystalline calcium phosphate on a non-exclusive basis in the United States and Canada.
Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, in collaboration with investigators at the Maastricht University Medical Centre and Maastricht University School of Public Health in the Netherlands and The University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, have published findings strongly suggesting that preterm birth (prior to 37 weeks gestation) increases the risk of asthma and wheezing disorders during childhood and that the risk of developing these conditions increases as the degree of prematurity increases.
