ParticipACTION, the national voice of physical activity and sport participation in Canada, and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute are pleased to announce that Dr. Mark Tremblay has been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Governor General of Canada. Medals are awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves from others through their achievements and sustained contribution to their field.
Melatonin synthesized in the lungs acts as a barrier against SARS-CoV-2, preventing expression of genes that encode proteins in cells such as resident macrophages in the nose and pulmonary alveoli, and epithelial cells lining the alveoli, all of which are entry points for the virus.
New research shows people who feel depressed tend to recall having more physical symptoms than they actually experienced. The study indicates that depression - not neuroticism - is the cause of such over-reporting.
A recent article in the British Medical Journal highlighted a United Kingdom parliamentary report indicating that avoidable deaths are occurring due to lack of physician training about eating disorders in the National Health System.
