Sophiris Bio Inc. today announced data from its transrectal safety study, in which PRX302, the company's drug candidate for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH or enlarged prostate), was well tolerated through three months following a transrectal injection.
Longer nocturnal respiratory events in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) cause higher immediate heart rate variability, and greater changes in beat-to-beat intervals are associated with reduced daytime alertness, according to new research from the University of Eastern Finland.
Porphyrias, a group of eight known blood disorders, affect the body's molecular machinery for making heme, which is a component of the oxygen-transporting protein, hemoglobin. When heme binds with iron, it gives blood its hallmark red color.
Blood pressure has been measured and recorded in the same way for nearly a century. This is set to change. Researchers believe that the earlier way has led to the misdiagnosis of many. This could be due to a phenomenon called "white coat hypertension" or rise in the blood pressure due to nervousness on meeting the medical staff. It is seen that at least 25% of the population suffers from white coat hypertension.
