Rice University bioengineers and physician-scientists at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital have successfully destroyed tumors of human brain cancer cells in the first animal tests of a minimally invasive treatment that zaps glioma tumors with heat. The tests involved nanoshells, light-activated nanoparticles that are designed to destroy tumors with heat and avoid the unwanted side effects of drug and radiation therapies.
OmniVision Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, and FISBA AG, a world leader in customized optical components, systems and microsystems, today announced a new microcamera solution for life science applications. FISBA's FISCam™ is a customizable microcamera with integrated illumination that comes in a compact package measuring less than 2 mm in diameter. This new microcamera uses OmniVision's high-performance OV6946 CameraChip™ sensor to deliver striking images and video in 400 x 400 resolution even with the extremely small module size.
