As elbow injuries continue to rise, especially in pitchers, procedures to help treat and get players back in the game quickly have been difficult to come by. However, a newer treatment called platelet rich plasma (PRP) may pose hope, according to researchers presenting their findings at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's Specialty Day meeting in San Francisco.
Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque recently signed an administrative order aimed at increasing efforts to combat HIV/tuberculosis coinfection, Asia Pulse/Individual.com reports.
Astrid Skreosen has worked for many years as an auxiliary nurse in the maternity ward in Skien Hospital. She became fed up with the little mats which were supposed to lie under women who were giving birth, and were intended to soak up waste products and fluids.
Sugar, cholesterol, phosphates, zinc - a healthy body is amazingly good at keeping such vital nutrients at appropriate levels within its cells. From an engineering point of view, one all-purpose model of pump on the surface of a cell should suffice to keep these levels constant: When the concentration of a nutrient, say, sugar, drops inside the cell, the pump mechanism could simply go into higher gear until the sugar levels are back to normal.
A medical student and faculty directors from the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics analyzed depictions of bioethical issues and professionalism over a full season of two popular medical dramas-"Grey's Anatomy" and "House, M.D."-and found that the shows were "rife" with ethical dilemmas and actions that often ran afoul of professional codes of conduct.
