Researchers from the University of Copenhagen are the first in the world to develop a secure way of measuring the important protein apo-M. This could prove relevant for research into diseases such as diabetes, arteriosclerosis and sclerosis.
A study published in this month's issue of Angiology shows that supplementation with the pine bark extract Pycnogenol. (pic-noj-en-all) improves blood flow to the muscles which speeds recovery after physical exercise.
The WHO is looking into reports that patients with "severely suppressed immune systems" in Britain and the U.S. developed resistance Tamiflu, which is used to treat the symptoms of H1N1 (swine flu), a spokesman for the organization said Tuesday, Reuters reports.
Data presented yesterday at the 26th annual meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) show that the ability of teriparatide to prevent fractures remained consistent regardless of pretreatment bone turnover status.
Heart problems cause disturbed gene activity in the brain's memory center, from which cognitive deficits arise.
