Registration for the 7th International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2013) - which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 30 to July 3, 2013 - is now open through the conference webpage, which notes "[d]elegates are encouraged to register by 18 April 2013 ... to avoid the late fee surcharge, which begins on 19 April."
According to the results of a phase III trial presented at the 2018 ASCO Annual Meeting, two simple over-the-counter medicines – high dose esomeprazole and low dose aspirin when taken regularly can moderately lessen the risk of high grade esophageal cancer in patients who are diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus when taken for at least 7 years.
Discriminatory housing policies that restricted the sale or purchase of homes by race in certain neighborhoods across the U.S., called 'redlining,' which were established nearly a century ago and outlawed by the Fair Housing Act of 1968, were associated with higher rates of stroke in the same neighborhoods in 2017, according to preliminary research to be presented at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference 2021.
Two drugs approved for use as second line therapy for chronic myelogenous leukemia are showing promising results as frontline therapy for newly diagnosed patients in two clinical trials, research teams led by scientists at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center report at the 49th annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology.
