Australian Medical Association President, Dr Bill Glasson, said today that Kraft Asia Pacific has missed a golden opportunity to show leadership in the battle against the epidemic of childhood obesity by not following its US counterpart and modifying advertising of its products to children under the age of 12.
Neuroscientists had assumed that a mutation in the progranulin gene, which makes the progranulin protein and supports brain neurons, was sufficient to produce a kind of dementia known as frontotemporal lobar degeneration. But now an international team of scientists led by researchers at Mayo Clinic's campus in Florida have found another genetic factor they say appears to protect against the disorder in progranulin mutation carriers.
A Wisconsin city has a pioneering program with Medicare reimbursements, which has essentially made it the birthplace of the "death panel" myth. The Washington Post reports on La Crosse: "This city often shows up on 'best places to live' lists, but residents say it is also a good place to die - which is how it landed in the center of a controversy that almost derailed health-care reform this summer."
Smith & Nephew today announced the launch of its innovative, single-use DYONICS PLATINUM Series Shaver Blades which deliver superior arthroscopic resection, debris evacuation and sharpness.
TMJ Medical acknowledged Tuesday receiving a postmarket surveillance study order from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. TMJ Medical is one of three medical device manufacturers approved to market temporomandibular joint (TMJ) implants in the United States. Each manufacturer received the same FDA order.
