Scientists from Wake Forest University School of Medicine have identified a protein that seems to control the malignant features of brain tumor cells, suggesting a new treatment target for anti-cancer drugs. The research is reported in the current issue of Molecular Cancer Research.
Advaxis, Inc., the live, attenuated Listeria monocytogenes biotechnology company, has dosed the first patient in its US Food and Drug Administration -approved, phase II clinical trial in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, commonly known as cervical dysplasia.
Lack of exercise or physical activity is estimated to cause as many deaths each year as smoking. Current guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 minutes a week of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity (or a combination of the two), and muscle-strengthening exercises two or more days a week.
For the first time at ECR in Vienna (March 1 – 5) the healthcare division of Siemens AG will be appearing under its new brand – Siemens Healthineers – and with the motto, "Let's shape the future of healthcare together".
New findings are now being presented on possible mechanisms behind gender differences in the occurrence of rheumatism and other autoimmune diseases. The study, published in Nature Communications, can be of significance for the future treatment of diseases.
