Universal Biosensors announced today that it has agreed amendments to its arrangements with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc. The parties have agreed to shift the focus of their joint product development activities, provide prepayment of milestones to UBI and improved strip pricing to support Siemens' entry into the point-of-care PT-INR testing market.
Working with lab-grown human stem cells, a team of researchers suspect they have discovered how the Zika virus probably causes microcephaly in fetuses. The virus selectively infects cells that form the brain's cortex, or outer layer, making them more likely to die and less likely to divide normally and make new brain cells.
Black children are twice as likely as white children to be readmitted to the hospital for asthma - a disparity due in large part to a greater burden of financial and social hardships, according to a new study.
