This partnership will provide technologists access to the highest quality continuing education, and will give hospital management the best tools to ensure patient safety.
While Spider-Man is capturing the imagination of theatergoers, real-life spider men in Upstate New York are working intently to save a young boy's life. It all began in 2009, when Jeff Harvey, a stockbroker from the Buffalo suburbs, discovered that his grandson, JB, had Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The disease is fatal. It strikes only boys, causing their muscles to waste away.
Arkitek Studios and the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research (NWABR) have been awarded a $100,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Center for Research Resources, a component of the National Institutes of Health. This one-year grant, entitled ETHOS (Ethics Training Health Oriented Software), provides funding for development of interactive educational software that will underscore the critical role ethics plays in biomedical research.
A diverse coalition of health care industry groups has sent an urgent letter to the bipartisan leadership in Congress seeking to delay pending Medicaid cuts and to enact a more equitable formula to reimburse pharmacies for dispensing generic drugs to Medicaid beneficiaries.
Patients diagnosed with thymoma, a rare cancer of the thymus gland, may be able to avoid certain cancer treatments associated with severe adverse events if the results of a new test reveal they are at low risk of metastasis, according to a study published today in the journal PLOS ONE.
