New research suggests that obesity changes how airway muscles function, increasing the risk of developing asthma. The study is published ahead of print in the American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology.
A team of researchers from the National University of Singapore has found a new significant correlation between the protein nucleophosmin (NPM) and the development of an aggressive form of blood cancer called acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Although two SARS-CoV-2 variants are associated with higher transmission, patients with these variants show no evidence of higher viral loads in their upper respiratory tracts compared to the control group, a Johns Hopkins School of Medicine study found.
