From December 13 - 14, 2010, the "Open Access - Open Data" Conference will be taking place in Cologne. It is an international expert conference that will look closely on how the Open Access movement has developed within the last five years and what is going to happen within the next five to ten years. Additionally, the "Open Data Movement" that is gaining more and more importance will be under consideration.
Whether it's the Ebola virus or Sarin and Ricin, a key to responding to chemical or biological attacks is having effective antidotes at the ready. To accelerate the development of new therapies, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center's Institute for Regenerative Medicine is leading a unique $24 million federally funded project to develop a "body on a chip" that will be used to develop these countermeasures.
Using data from the national register in Denmark, researchers studied how likely persons infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmit it within their households. The study found additional household members tested positive in 17% of cases after one person in the household was infected. The research is published on the preprint server medRxiv in September 2020.
Researchers from University College London have won a £25,000 prize for developing technology that could be used to improve medical imaging, the targeted delivery of drugs and much more.
