Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has executed a $15 million working capital loan agreement with Hercules Technology Growth Capital. The funds available under the loan will be used for capital equipment and working capital purposes. In connection with the loan, Alexza issued Hercules warrants to purchase 376,394 shares of common stock at an exercise price of $2.69 per share, which was the 50-day average daily weighted average trading price at the time the term sheet for the loan was issued by Hercules.
The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt University, challenges the American Psychiatric Association guidelines that antidepressant medications are the only effective treatment for moderately to severely depressed patients.
Aspirin taken within five days of cardiac surgery is associated with a significant decrease in the risk of major postoperative complications, including renal failure, a lengthy intensive care unit stay and even early death (30-day mortality), according to a study by researchers at Thomas Jefferson University and UC Davis Medical Center set to appear in the journal Annals of Surgery.
