A cardiothoracic surgical team with UofL Health – Jewish Hospital and the University of Louisville has performed the world's first Aeson® bioprosthetic total artificial heart implantation in a female patient. The investigational device, currently intended as a bridge to heart transplant, is part of an Early Feasibility Study (EFS) sponsored by CARMAT, a French medical device company, in partnership with UofL, UofL Health – Jewish Hospital and the UofL Health – Trager Transplant Center.
TONIX Pharmaceuticals (formerly known as Krele Pharmaceuticals), a specialty central nervous system (CNS) pharmaceutical company, announced results of a new analysis of a Phase 2a study, which previously demonstrated reduced pain, fatigue and tenderness in patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) following bedtime administration of very low dosage (VLD) cyclobenzaprine (CBP).

Even short, single antibiotic courses given to young animals can predispose them to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) when they are older, according to Rutgers researchers.
