Tenet Healthcare Corporation announced today the upsizing and pricing of its previously announced private offering of senior secured notes maturing in 2018.
Impax Laboratories, Inc. today reported significant growth in the first quarter of 2010 due to an increase in sales from its Global product sales channel. Total revenue increased $264.4 million to $323.3 million driven by the successful March 2 exclusive launch of generic Flomax® ($176.2 million of revenue and $167.9 million of gross profit) and continued strong sales of generic Adderall XR® for which there were no comparable amounts in the first quarter 2009, as well as increased sales of the Company's fenofibrate products.
A study in Norway suggests echocardiographic screening in the general public for structural and valvular heart disease was not associated with benefit for reducing the risk of death, myocardial infarction (heart attack) or stroke, according to a report published by JAMA Internal Medicine, a JAMA Network publication.
"The H7N9 strain contains gene sequences that make it relatively effective, for a bird virus, at infecting humans and other mammals," Bloomberg writes.
Pharmacogenetics started in the fifties with the discovery of primaquine-related haemolysis among glucose-6-phosphate deshydrogenase deficient patients. At the end of the century, it progressively evolved into Pharmacogenomics, investigating simultaneously multiple gene targets till covering the whole genome in relation with altered drug response.
