As a member of the S100 family, S100A2 is considered a candidate tumor-suppressor gene. Recently, p63 gene, a new member of the p53 gene family, has been studied in the fields of tumorigenesis, cell apoptosis and tissue growth. At present, few studies have been carried out on the expression and relationship of S100A2 and p63 in EC.
A 2013 study by Pérez et al. reported a very high accumulation of the industrial chemical perfluorobutanoic acid (PFBA) in human lungs and kidneys. The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) checked these results using a more precise quantification method. The result: Only one sample contained a quantifiable PFBA value of 0.17 nanograms (ng) per gram (g) of lung tissue.
Kawasaki disease (KD) is the most common acquired heart disease in children. Untreated, roughly one-quarter of children with KD develop coronary artery aneurysms - balloon-like bulges of heart vessels - that may ultimately result in heart attacks, congestive heart failure or sudden death.
South Shore Hospital, Weymouth, Mass., has reached a $750,000 settlement agreement of a lawsuit over a 2010 data breach involving the records of 800,000 individuals, the hospital and the Massachusetts attorney general's office have announced.
