Young Australians studying from home during the COVID-19 pandemic still need to spend time outside to prevent near-sightedness, according to a researcher from The University of Western Australia.
Researchers led by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have identified a mechanism by which the chikungunya virus infects healthy cells and controls how severe the disease it causes will be, a mechanism they believe can be found in a number of other related viruses for which there are no treatments or licensed vaccines.
Machaon Diagnostics, California's only independent laboratory for testing bleeding and clotting disorders has launched a clinical testing service for patients that have been prescribed warfarin. Warfarin, also known as Coumadin, Jantoven or warfarin sodium, is a potent 'blood thinner' or anticoagulant.
Marking its 75th year in business in Virginia, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is facing perhaps the biggest challenge in its history with the implementation of the national health care overhaul plan and the company's role in how the reform will be implemented in Virginia will be significant.
There is better evidence for the effectiveness of drug-based approaches for relieving labour pains than non-drug approaches. These are the findings of an all-encompassing publishing in The Cochrane Library, which draws together results from a number of previous reviews on the subject.
