Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement with various institutional investors to raise $19.7 million in a private placement of its common stock.
Nomir Medical Technologies, a leader in the development of optical energy technologies for medical applications, announced today the publication of a scientific paper in the journal Photochemistry and Photobiology that details in vitro and human data demonstrating the unique and patented mechanism-of-action for its Noveon® dual-wavelength device, as well as positive efficacy and safety data.
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has launched an international clinical trial called TWILIGHT to test the safety and effectiveness of treating coronary stent patients with the anti-clotting medication ticagrelor alone, instead of combining it with aspirin, which is the current standard of care. Researchers will analyze the potential benefits of administering ticagrelor to reduce clotting while at the same time reducing the risk of bleeding associated with the use of both medications.
