A study in the Sept.1 issue of the journal Sleep shows that the sleep-wake activity rhythms of breast cancer patients are impaired during the administration of chemotherapy. Results indicate that the first cycle of chemotherapy is associated with a temporary disruption of these rhythms, while repeated administration of chemotherapy results in progressively worse and more enduring impairments.
Batson's Drug Store seems like a throwback to a simpler time. The independently owned pharmacy in Howard, Kansas, still runs an old-fashioned soda counter and hand-dips ice cream. But the drugstore, the only one in the entire county, teeters on the edge between nostalgia and extinction.
A new way to detect - and perhaps treat - one of the deadliest types of breast cancer has been found. Led by researchers at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), the study appears online in Breast Cancer Research.

(NASDAQ: CYTX) reports that surgeons from North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have presented clinical outcomes using Adipose-Derived Regenerative Cell (ADRC) fat grafting in reconstructive breast surgery at the Association of Breast Surgery Conference in Manchester, UK, May 16-17, 2011. The procedure, referred to by Cytori as RESTORE, was separately investigated in Cytori's own RESTORE 2 trial.
