High vitamin D levels may decrease the risk of cancer development, particularly liver cancer, according to a new study.
Researchers from Indiana University and the Regenstrief Institute, with its world-renowned medical informatics research group and regional health information exchange, have been awarded a $4.8 million grant by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to create the Indiana Center of Excellence in Public Health Informatics, one of only four such centers in the nation.
Results from a phase III trial indicate that cetuximab should not be given alongside chemotherapy in patients with recurrent non-small-cell lung cancer after platinum-based therapy.
In a series of commissions awarded by the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) to the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care, the question is whether for certain surgical procedures, a correlation can be shown between the volume of services provided per hospital and the quality of treatment results.
Physicians training on novel technologies and surgical devices by other already experienced physicians, known as proctoring, is a fundamental aspect of medicine.
