At the recent meeting of the American Urological Association in San Francisco, researchers presented studies regarding the decision making process men go through when considering proposed prostate cancer treatments. Dr. Vorstman, renowned Florida urologist, believes these studies would have more meaning if patients were presented with information about prostate cancer treatment options in a different fashion.
The study uses serial mid-turbinate nasal specimens collected from a subset of incarcerated persons infected during this outbreak.
The new test, based on research carried out at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, should help doctors to decrease the risk of suicidality in patients treated with antidepressants who show certain gene markers. Sundance is completing a new round of funding to extend the initial validation results reported by the Institute. The company plans to launch the test immediately as a laboratory developed test. In addition, clinical studies in support of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration submission for market clearance, CE marking and reimbursement will be initiated. Sundance expects to submit its application to the agencies within 18 months.
British Columbia found that BC was better prepared for the pandemic and responded in a more coordinated and decisive manner, leading to far fewer deaths than in Ontario.
On World AIDS Day 2007, hundreds, perhaps thousands, of men who have sex with men (MSM) will become infected with HIV in cities across the Asia Pacific, becoming the latest statistics in an almost unrecognized but ever-growing crisis that many governments in the region are only just beginning to grapple with.
