The odds of a black or Hispanic patient visiting an outpatient dermatologist are about half that of a white patient with the same skin condition, according to a new study in JAMA Dermatology.
Some 20 to 40 percent of extremely premature infants suffer abnormal lung development leading to bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a chronic lung disease that can cause long-term breathing problems.
Environmental damage costs society enormous amounts of money - and often leaves future generations to foot the bill. Now, a new ISO standard will help companies valuate and manage the impact of their environmental damage, by providing a clear figure for the cost of their goods and services to the environment.
A landmark review of the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the future of global health published in The Lancet calls on the global health community to establish guidelines for the development and deployment of new technologies and to develop a human-centered research agenda to facilitate equitable and ethical use of AI.
Cell lifespan is limited by telomeres, DNA sequences that cap chromosomes and control the number of times a cell may be copied.
