The Johns Hopkins Heart and Vascular Institute occupies a major part of the 1.6 million-square-foot facility, which has 560 all-private patient rooms with private baths and 33 expansive operating rooms.
A prospective study by U.K. researchers found that adolescents who are double-jointed-medically termed joint hypermobility-are at greater risk for developing musculoskeletal pain as they get older, particularly in the shoulders, knees, ankles and feet.
Australian scientists, in association with US pharmaceutical company DiaKine Therapeutics, have shown that a drug candidate, Lisofylline, could be useful in treating Type 2 diabetes.
Adding fenofibrate to statin treatment significantly improves postprandial triglyceride response over statin treatment alone in individuals with diabetes, show findings from a US study.
