An investigation into the mistaken shipment of deadly bird flu virus from a government laboratory earlier this year found that a scientist took shortcuts to speed up the work and accidentally contaminated the samples, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday.
The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (Nice), UK, has approved a new drug which one study has suggested could reduce the risk of death from a second heart attack by 20 per cent. The drug is manufactured by AstraZeneca as Brilique. It works by maintaining cardiac blood flow and stopping new blood clots from forming.
Omnicare, Inc. today announced that it intends to offer $400 million aggregate principal amount of senior subordinated notes due 2020, pursuant to a preliminary prospectus supplement to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission under the Company's shelf registration statement.
ADVANCELL, an emerging biopharmaceutical company, today announced positive results from a clinical study conducted with Acadra (Acadesine) in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia patients resistant to current therapies. The company also announced promising non-clinical results in Multiple Myeloma (MM), Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) and other lymphoproliferative disorders. Synergism of Acadra in combination with current treatment in these indications has been demonstrated.
Mares that are fed a diet that includes or is solely comprised of concentrates during gestation are significantly more likely to produce foals that develop permanent osteochondrosis lesions compared with mares who are fed a diet of roughage alone, report researchers.
