WideMed, a leading company engaged in the research, development and sale of innovative products for the growing bio-medical signal diagnostics and treatment market, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted its home sleep monitoring device, Morpheus Ox, clearance to market in the United States for cardiac patient population.
Skeletal muscle has proved to be very difficult to grow in patients with muscular dystrophy and other disorders that degrade and weaken muscle. Researchers at Boston Children's Hospital's Stem Cell Program now report boosting muscle mass and reversing disease in a mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, using a "cocktail" of three compounds identified through a new rapid culture system. Adding the same compounds to stem cells derived from patients' skin cells, they then successfully grew human muscle cells in a dish.
Patient care at St. Jude doesn't stop when the child is cured. The end of successful therapy is the start of many years of follow-up care. This care is aimed at helping make the recovery process successful and preparing the family and hometown doctor for long-term complications that might arise from the disease or its treatment.
The largest study of its type in the UK has identified differences in the immune response to COVID-19, between people with no symptoms, compared to those suffering a more serious reaction to the virus.
If you've been on or near the water, you've seen it-the plastic trash that litters oceans, lakes, and streams worldwide.
