The bipartisan children's advocacy organization First Focus and PolicyLab at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia released a new analysis today showing that, five years after its technical end, the recession of the mid-2000s continues to impact America's children.
The American College of Physicians today released a policy paper on the medical liability crisis, which continues to have a profound effect on the medical system. "Medical Liability Reform-Innovative Solutions for a New Health Care System" provides an update of the medical liability landscape, state-based activity on medical liability reform, and summarizes traditional and newer reform proposals and their ability to affect system efficiency and encourage patient safety.
Scottsdale Healthcare is the only Arizona hospital system testing a new under-the-skin device that uses an electrical shock to interrupt possibly fatal heart rhythms, restoring a normal heartbeat for patients at high risk of sudden cardiac arrest.The first Arizona patient received the device Thursday at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center. Scottsdale Healthcare is the only Phoenix area hospital and one of only 35 in the world participating in the study.
