Findings from the American Psychological Association's (APA) newly released 2010 Stress in America survey raise red flags about the long-term impact that chronic stress could have on our physical and emotional health and the health of our families, psychologists said today.
Neurotransmitters have consequences. They initiate events that are critical to a healthy life, giving us the ability to move, to talk, to breathe, to think. But that's if the neurotransmitters are getting it right and sending proper signals downstream to muscle cells, neurons or other cells.
Professor Clifford Hughes was speaking in anticipation of the publication of a White Paper published by the International Journal for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) today which discusses the impact of current and impending pressure of ageing populations which will present significant planning and budgetary challenges for global healthcare systems.
