In a letter to Mississippi State Representative Mark Formby this week, the Federal Trade Commission warns that a bill shifting regulatory authority over pharmacy benefit managers from the Mississippi Insurance Commissioner to the Board of Pharmacy "may increase pharmaceutical prices and reduce competition."
The accumulation of α-synuclein, a small, negatively charged protein, in neural cells, is one of the hallmarks of Parkinson's disease. It has been suggested that oligomeric α-synuclein causes membranes to become permeable, or to form channels on the outer cell membrane.
During embryonic development, nerve cells hesitantly extend tentacle-like protrusions called axons that sniff their way through a labyrinth of attractive and repulsive chemical cues that guide them to their target.
The risk of developing breast cancer due to taking hormone replacement therapy appears to be the same for women with a family history of the disease and without a family history, a University of Rochester Medical Center study concluded.
