Africa can achieve success in combating malaria and other diseases with sufficient resources and increased commitment from African leaders, World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan said Monday at the opening of the 58th session of WHO's Regional Committee for Africa in Yaounde, Cameroon, the Cameroon Tribune reports.
To eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in the United States, current guidelines should be changed to reclassify all foreign-born residents from high-incidence countries as "high-risk," regardless of the amount of time they have lived in the U.S.
Researchers at UCL have shown for the first time that mammals detect different intensities of cold using distinct sensory neuron systems, a finding which could lead to the development of new drugs to treat cold pain.
