Women who took vitamin D and calcium supplements had the same number of menopausal symptoms as women who did not take the supplements, according to a study published today in Maturitas, the official journal of the European Menopause and Andropause Society.
NeoStem, Inc. ("NeoStem" or the "Company"), an international biopharmaceutical company with operations in the U.S. and China, announced today the closing of its previously announced 5,000,000 share public offering and the exercise of the over-allotment option in full by the underwriters for an additional 750,000 shares of the Company's common stock, bringing the total shares offered to 5,750,000.
Javelin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today announced the successful completion of the tender offer by Discus Acquisition Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hospira, Inc., to purchase all outstanding shares of the common stock of Javelin.
There are reports of a cancer cluster among Sydney Harbour Bridge workers with at least eight known cases that unions believe are linked to the use of lead paint. The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) will investigate the matter. Of the eight workers five have already died and all of them had been involved in painting and maintaining the bridge for more than 10 years, the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) said. This included scraping off lead paint, initially with little protective equipment.
Treatment failures occur with any drug and aspirin is no exception. Evidence is growing that some people will not respond to the anti-coagulant action of aspirin and the drug will not protect against cardiovascular events despite its regular intake.
