For the first time, scientists have been able to identify genetic factors that influence the age at which natural menopause occurs in women. Ms Lisette Stolk, a researcher from Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, told the annual conference of the European Society of Human Genetics today ( Monday 25 May) that a greater understanding of the factors influencing age at menopause might eventually help to improve the clinical treatment of infertile women.

Intracoronary and IV abciximab during angioplasty do not result in differences in myocardial damage

A study confirmed no differences in various measures of heart damage, according to cardiac magnetic resonance (MRI) imaging, in patients receiving the anti-clotting medication abxicimab directly into the heart (intracoronary) compared to those receiving it intravenously (IV).

Memorial Blood Centers partners with Second Harvest Heartland for blood donation initiative

Memorial Blood Centers today announced the details of its annual partnership program with Second Harvest Heartland, designed to restock the life-saving blood supplies at local hospitals while helping to fill area food shelves as well.
