The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved the first DNA test to help health care professionals gauge the progress of anti-viral treatment in solid organ transplant patients undergoing cytomegalovirus (CMV) antiviral therapy.
Patients with prediabetes who also have obstructive sleep apnea may improve their resting heart rate, an important measure of cardiovascular health, by using continuous positive airway pressure to treat their OSA, according to a randomized, controlled trial presented at the ATS 2018 International Conference.
Researchers at the University of Copenhagen have documented a previously unknown biological mechanism in the brain's most important line of defence: the blood-brain barrier. Scientists now know that the barrier helps maintain a delicate balance of glutamate, a vital signal compound in the brain.
