An important cancer-related gene may play a critical role in the development of the placenta, the organ that controls nutrient and oxygen exchange between a mother and her fetus during pregnancy, and perhaps in miscarriages.
Prospera Technologies announced today that, at the Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care in San Antonio, Texas, Oct 22-25, 2009, Malin Malmsjo MD., Ph.D. of Lund University in Lund, Sweden, presented significant new research comparing the differences and quality of granulation tissue in foam versus gauze based NPWT.
A new technique that searches blood for the tiniest remnants of broken down proteins has revealed new information about how cells crank up cancer activators called proteases. The results improve researchers' understanding of the mechanics of breast cancer and point to where to look for possible indicators of early disease.
One specific protein may be a master regulator for changing how cancer cells consume nutrients from their environments, preventing cell death and increasing the likelihood cancer could spread, a study from the University of Notre Dame has shown.
