A host of new surveys released to coincide with Healthcare Financial Management Association's 2014 Annual National Institute (HFMA ANI), confirms that most hospitals, health systems and large physician groups expect the transition to value-based care to have an adverse impact on profitability.
New California electronic medical billing regulations and revised paper medical billing requirements were released January 6th for public comment by California's Division of Workers Compensation (DWC). The regulations, part of the Division's 12-point plan to help control medical costs in California's workers' compensation system, will be signed into law in approximately 60 days.
The American College of Physicians (ACP) and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) today unveiled a high value, cost-conscious care curriculum to help train internal medicine residents about how to avoid overuse and misuse of tests and treatments that do not improve outcomes and may cause harms.
Testing for molecular markers in the urine of kidney transplant patients could reveal whether the transplant is failing and why, according to research presented at the 27th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
The National Cancer Institute awarded Chrysalis BioTherapeutics a $1.5 million contract to continue development of Chrysalin® to mitigate radiotherapy-induced damage to normal brain tissue. The project is a collaboration between Chrysalis, Baylor College of Medicine, and the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).
