Scientists from Sweden and Norway have recently investigated how media reportage on fatal side-effects of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has impacted the use of healthcare services among newly vaccinated healthcare workers. The findings reveal that the media reporting has caused a sharp increase in primary and specialist healthcare service utilization by healthcare staff.
While autoimmune cerebellar ataxia (a loss of muscle control coordination) can lead to severe disability with some patients becoming wheelchair-bound, there are factors that may help predict better immunotherapy response, according to the Mayo Clinic study published by JAMA Neurology.
New research shows that the addition of confocal laser endomicroscopy to high-definition white-light endoscopy enables improved real-time endoscopic diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus dysplasia (neoplastic tissue) by using targeted biopsies of abnormal mucosa to reduce unnecessary mucosal biopsies and potentially reduce costs.
Abstral continues to grow strongly and is now also approved in the USA. OX-MPI has made significant progress towards clinical trials and has received its first milestone payment. The three new programs OX219, OX51 and OX27 announced in August 2010 have now all entered the clinical phase.
Fluoride chemicals added to public water supplies, boosts lead absorption in lab animals' bones, teeth and blood, report Sawan, et al. (Toxicology 2/2010). Earlier studies already show children's blood-lead-levels are higher in fluoridated communities, reports Sawan's research team.
