Washington, D.C., council member Phil Mendelson (D), head of the Committee on Public Safety and the Judiciary, recently recommended eliminating a provision from a marriage bill that would require couples applying for marriage licenses to be tested for HIV/AIDS and syphilis, the Washington Post reports.
Researchers have developed a simple blood test that can detect over 50 types of cancer, often before signs or symptoms.
Air quality has been associated with numerous adverse health outcomes from asthma to pre-term birth. Researchers at University of Utah Health found women living along the Wasatch Front - the most populous region in the state of Utah - had a higher risk (16 percent) of miscarriage following short-term exposure to elevated air pollution. The results are available online on December 5 in the journal Fertility and Sterility.
Meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) therapy is now offered by Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Patients with neuroblastoma who qualify for treatment with MIBG therapy can be treated in this new facility, with round-the-clock supervision by specially trained staff through video and audio monitoring.
Children with migraine are more likely to have sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea and lack of sleep, than children without migraine, according to research on the effects of headaches on children's sleep patterns that will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology 60th Anniversary Annual Meeting in Chicago, April 12-19, 2008.
