Targacept, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel NNR Therapeutics(TM), today announced that it has added to its program for inflammatory disorders by entering into an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Cornerstone Therapeutics Inc. The agreement grants Targacept rights to Cornerstone's NNR-based patents, as well as its library of preclinical compounds that act on the alpha7 or other nicotinic receptors.
Dutch researchers have developed a test which predicts which mothers at risk of passing on mitochondrial genetic disease to their children are likely to have a healthy baby.
The German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) used an evidence map to investigate to what extent informative evidence exists on the benefit and harm of the diagnostic procedures "non-invasive computed tomography angiography" (CTA) and "stress MRI" in people with suspected coronary heart disease (CHD).
Underrepresented minorities remain few in number among practicing cardiologists and across cardiology fellowship training programs in the United States, with fellowship directors agreeing that increased diversity is needed in the field and is particularly necessary within graduate medical education cardiology fellowship training programs.
