A team led by Oxford University has identified genes that make certain children more susceptible to invasive bacterial infections by performing a large genome-wide association study in African children.
NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company creating a new class of anti-infectives for treating multi-drug resistant pathogens, announced today that effective immediately, its partner, Alcon Inc. has increased its on-going financial support of the company's research and development efforts by more than $2 million per year. The additional funding is expected to enhance NovaBay's pre-clinical and clinical development programs in the areas of eye, ear and sinus infections, as well as contact lens solutions.
Acacia Research Corporation announced today that its Hospital Systems Corporation subsidiary has entered into a license agreement with Stryker Corporation and Stryker Imaging Corporation covering a portfolio of patents that relate to medical picture archiving and communication system (PACS) technology.
With nurses in far north Queensland walking off the job and now New South Wales Nurses Association (NSWNA) also confessing to wanting to do the same, it is clear that all is not well with some public health systems in Australia.
