A recent paper published in the Journal of Public Health finds that women from areas with high income inequality are less likely to meet overall physical activity recommendations than men from the same geographical area.
A report out today from the Republican staff of the Senate Budget Committee highlights a critical point about Obamacare: The law's negative effect on labor markets helps explain why it will increase deficits by $131 billion over the next 10 years. Researchers from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid's Biomedical Informatics Group based at the Facultad de Informática have created a tool called PubDNA Finder. This tool is the first search engine specialized in linking biomedical articles to nucleic acid sequences.
Pro-Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the leading developer of therapeutics that target Galectin proteins to treat cancer and fibrosis, today announced that the Japan Patent Office has accepted a new patent, No. 2002-574987, "Co-administration of a Polysaccharide with a Chemotherapy for the Treatment of Cancer". The patent protects, among other things, methods for reducing the toxicity of chemotherapies in which a polysaccharide, such as the Company's lead drug DAVANAT®, is co-administered with a chemotherapeutic agent to reduce toxicity of the chemotherapy.
Starting rehabilitation sooner following knee arthroplasty surgery could pay dividends - for both patients and hospitals. Commencing physical therapy within 24 hours of surgery can improve pain, range of joint motion and muscle strength as well as cut hospital stays, according to new research in the journal Clinical Rehabilitation, published by SAGE.
