Scientists have recently made a wondrous variety of mini-brains - 3-D cultures of neural cells that model basic properties of living brains - but a new finding could add to the field's growing excitement in an entirely new "vein": Brown University's mini-brains now grow blood vessels, too.

In a just-published Journal of Biomechanics article, the researchers proved a longtime assumption about individuals' right and left wrists, while also finding differences between wrists of males and females: discoveries that could help inform and guide future treatments.
Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT II, Inc. today announced that it has acquired Lawton Medical Office Building Portfolio, a two-property medical office building portfolio on the campus of Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Okla., and Ennis Medical Office Building, a 30,000-square-foot medical office building in Ennis, Texas.
The success of the healthcare law "depends on reaching everyone who is uninsured, but particularly young people who may feel like they don't need insurance," said Larry Levitt, a senior vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation. Convincing them to spend money on insurance, he said, will be a "marketing challenge" (Gorman, 6/2).
