Hospitals and nursing homes have been trying to cut the facility-acquired infection rates, which has worked better for some conditions than others.

Median survival from diagnosis is 5 months, and although ATC accounts for only 1.7% of all thyroid cancers in the U.S., it is responsible for a large proportion of thyroid cancer-related deaths.
