Elsevier, the leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information, today announced it is celebrating medical education innovation at the American Medical Student Association's 60th Annual Convention, March 11-14, 2010, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California.
A group of Canadian researchers led by Prof. Jean-Pierre Pelletier, Head of the Osteoarthritis Research Unit at the University of Montreal Hospital Research Centre, published a clinical trial in which they confirm, for the first time using quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging, the disease modifying effects of chondroitin sulphate, a symptomatic slow acting drug for osteoarthritis.
A contentious debate among diabetes researchers has surrounded the regeneration of pancreatic insulin-producing cells: not if these cells regenerate, but rather how.
As a matter of policy, rather than politics, it is no more sensible to draw the line at $620 billion in additional revenue over the next decade than to insist, as have some Democrats, that Medicare and Social Security remain untouched. The country's structural deficit poses too large a threat to future prosperity, and there is no politically or fiscally realistic scenario under which entitlement cuts alone can solve the problem.
