Fresenius, one of the two largest dialysis providers in the U.S., has agreed to waive a $524,600.17 bill for a man who received 14 weeks of dialysis at a clinic in Montana.
According to researchers in the U.S. the loss of potassium experienced from taking blood pressure drugs may explain higher risk of adult diabetes.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Promacta (eltrombopag) to treat low blood platelet count in pediatric patients – ages one year and older – with a rare blood disorder called chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Promacta can be used in these children when they have not achieved an appropriate response using other ITP medicines or surgery to remove the spleen.
A widespread tobacco industry marketing strategy – sponsoring social events and giving out free cigarettes at bars, clubs, and college parties – is reaching students and may be encouraging them to take up smoking, according to a new study released today.
Scientists believe they may have found something to combat obesity and it may also help prevent the onset of diabetes.
