The Massachusetts General Hospital research team that first discovered tumor-associated RNA in tiny membrane-enclosed sacs released into the bloodstream by cancer cells has now found that these microvesicles also contain segments of tumor DNA, including retrotransposons - also called "jumping genes" - that copy and insert themselves into other areas of the genome.
When it comes to their social behavior, people sometimes act like monkeys, or more specifically, like rhesus macaques, a type of monkey that shares with humans strong tendencies for nepotism and political maneuvering, according to research by Dario Maestripieri, an expert on primate behavior and an Associate Professor in Comparative Human Development and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Chicago.
Often at doctor's advice, 35 million Americans have had to stop or cutback their morning coffee kick start due to heartburn and acid reflux as coffee is a leading cause to aggravate these stomach troubles. These problems haven't gone unnoticed in the coffee industry by both a leader and an upstart. Industry leader, Folgers, is repositioning its Folgers Simply Smooth brand by calling it "low acid" coffee.
