Childhood obesity has reached epidemic levels, and pediatricians are on the front lines. Pediatricians will confront these issues during a special pre-conference session at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, before the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference & Exhibition in Boston.
Alcohol consumption and smoking among Ontario students in grades 7-12 is at an all-time low; however recreational use of over-the-counter drugs is on the rise. Prescription drug misuse and driving after using drugs also remain elevated according to the 2013 Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey released by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
